Many non-profit organizations offer their employees retirement plans, usually a 401k Plan. The costs to both the non-profit and its employees can be significant and poorly understood. We assist non-profit organizations evaluate the management fees, costs and investment alternatives offered under their current plans, and guide the organization through the process of considering alternatives.
In 2005, Bob Scales was appointed “Senior Officer” under a settlement agreement with the New York Attorney General’s Office, a role that required him to assess the reasonableness of the management fees and expenses paid by certain mutual fund investors. Bob continued in this role for ten years. An independent analysis of fees and expenses can result in lower costs to employees and their employer. In addition, as a board member of a Chicago area non-profit, Bob was instrumental in replacing the organization’s existing plan provider with a lower cost alternative without sacrificing service or sound investment alternatives.
